NASCAR has made schedule adjustments for its Mexico City race weekend after a logistical issue grounded planes carrying several team members. The delays prompted a reshuffling of key events to ensure teams have adequate preparation time, while still maintaining the full race slate for fans.
On Friday, the Xfinity Series practice session has been canceled entirely to accommodate the late arrival of personnel. The NASCAR Mexico Series race, initially set for later in the day, has been moved up to 1:30 p.m. ET. Cup Series teams will now have two practice sessions in the afternoon: a 50-minute session starting at 4:05 p.m. ET and a shorter 25-minute follow-up at 5:30 p.m. ET.
Saturday’s activities have been reorganized as well. The Xfinity Series will hold a 50-minute practice at 11:05 a.m. ET, followed by qualifying at 12:10 p.m. ET. Cup Series qualifying will now begin at 2:05 p.m. ET. Despite the changes, the Xfinity race remains at 4:30 p.m. ET, and the second NASCAR Mexico Series race of the weekend has been pushed to 7 p.m. ET.
Sunday’s schedule, including the main Cup Series race at 3 p.m. ET, remains unchanged.
These updates ensure the weekend’s events proceed smoothly while prioritizing safety and fairness for all teams. Fans can catch all the action across various platforms, including Prime, MRN, SiriusXM NASCAR Radio, CW, and the NASCAR Mexico YouTube channel.
