Kruk and Kuip Announce They’re Not Going Anywhere (Yet)
In a move that surprises absolutely no one—and delights absolutely everyone—beloved Giants broadcasters Mike Krukow and Duane Kuiper have announced their intention to continue calling games for as long as they possibly can. Or, as they so eloquently put it, “until we die… which we’re penciling in for sometime after the next dynasty.”
The iconic duo, who have been calling San Francisco Giants games together for what feels like the entire modern era of baseball (and certainly all the best parts), say they’re still having too much fun to stop now. “People always ask when we’re going to retire,” Kuip said. “We usually tell them, ‘Why would we retire when we’ve already got the best seats in the house—and no one throws peanut shells at us?’”
Krukow chimed in, “Besides, we’ve finally figured out how to pronounce half the new players’ names. It’d be a shame to waste all that progress.”
Their continued partnership in the booth has become as integral to the Giants experience as garlic fries, foggy nights, and losing your voice yelling “Beat LA.” With their perfect mix of insight, sarcasm, and 40+ years of friendship, Kruk and Kuip have turned baseball broadcasts into something closer to family dinners—with slightly more shouting and a lot more stories about obscure 1970s infielders.
Still, they admit the future isn’t guaranteed. “We’ll keep going as long as we’ve got breath in our lungs, stories in our heads, and coffee in the booth,” Kuip said. Kruk nodded solemnly, then added, “And as long as they don’t replace us with AI. Those guys never forget stats, but they’ve got zero feel for a good Manny Trillo anecdote.”
So, for now, fans can breathe easy. The voice of summer in San Francisco will continue to be a tandem of crackling mics, contagious laughter, and the occasional groan when a lefty reliever walks the leadoff man.
“We’re lifers,” Kuip said. “Just don’t ask us to do TikTok.”
From the ballpark to your living room, Kruk and Kuip will keep calling games—and calling each other out—for as long as they can. And if that happens to be forever, well, no one here is complaining
