Honored and humbled to receive the Jim Hunter Media Award at last night’s NCMA dinner. This recognition means more than I can express—not just because of what it stands for, but because of the legacy of Jim Hunter himself. He was a storyteller, a trailblazer, and someone who believed deeply in the power of the written and spoken word to elevate motorsports. To be mentioned in the same breath is something I’ll never take lightly.
What made the evening even more special was having some of my family there. Sharing that moment with them reminded me of all the years, the long nights, the road trips, and the unwavering support that made this journey possible. This award is as much theirs as it is mine.
Congratulations as well to Michael Waltrip (@mwr55) and the legendary Darrell Waltrip on receiving the Achievement in Motorsports Tribute Award. Few have given more to the sport, on and off the track. Their contributions, passion, and dedication have shaped generations of fans and racers alike. To be recognized alongside them on the same evening is an honor in itself.
The NCMA continues to do an incredible job of celebrating the stories and people who make motorsports so special. Being part of this community has been one of the greatest privileges of my professional life.
Thank you to everyone who has read, listened, critiqued, or encouraged along the way. The media may work behind the scenes, but last night was a reminder that the stories we tell truly matter.
