Bubba Wallace is expressing strong dissatisfaction with NASCAR’s recent penalty against 23XI Racing, labeling the sanction as “unprecedented” and counterproductive. The penalty stems from the team’s involvement in race manipulation during the Round of 8 elimination race at Martinsville Speedway. NASCAR’s investigation revealed that Wallace, along with Ross Chastain and Austin Dillon, violated Sections 4.4.B & D of the NASCAR Rule Book, which pertain to actions detrimental to stock car racing and race manipulation. As a result, each driver faced a $100,000 fine and a 50-point deduction in the driver standings. Additionally, their respective teams were fined $100,000 and lost 50 points in the owner standings. Crew chief Bootie Barker and spotter Freddie Kraft were also suspended for the season finale at Phoenix Raceway.
Despite the severity of the penalty, 23XI Racing chose not to appeal the decision, stating that pursuing an appeal would divert focus from the championship. The team emphasized its commitment to the best interests of its members, partners, and fans.
Wallace’s frustration is compounded by what he perceives as inconsistent enforcement of NASCAR’s rules. He pointed to previous incidents, such as the altercation between Chase Elliott and Daniel Suarez, where no penalties were imposed despite similar conduct. Wallace argues that NASCAR’s inconsistent decision-making undermines the sport’s integrity and creates confusion among drivers and teams.
In response to the penalty, Wallace has vowed to channel his energy into improving his performance on the track. He remains determined to compete at the highest level, despite the challenges posed by the recent sanctions
