Christopher Bell, driver of the No. 20 Toyota for Joe Gibbs Racing, has withdrawn from the upcoming NASCAR Cup Series race at Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez in Mexico City. The race, scheduled for June 15, 2025, marks the inaugural international Cup Series event in the modern era.
Bell’s decision comes following the sudden illness of his father, which requires his immediate attention and support. The Bell family has requested privacy during this challenging time. Bell expressed his deep regret over missing the historic race and extended his gratitude to fans and sponsors for their understanding.
This withdrawal follows a series of impressive performances by Bell earlier in the season. He secured his second consecutive victory at the Circuit of the Americas on March 2, 2025, after a thrilling late-race pass on Kyle Busch and a narrow win over William Byron. Prior to that, Bell clinched his first win of the season at Atlanta Motor Speedway.
As of now, Joe Gibbs Racing has not announced a replacement driver for the Mexico City race. The team is expected to provide an update in the coming days.
