To Dad,

Standing here in Nashville, I’m reminded of how much your presence still means to so many. The stories, the tributes, the photos — they keep your legacy alive in ways that words can hardly express. But I wanted to try.

You were more than a champion. You were a force. Fierce on the track, unwavering in spirit, and genuine to your core. You taught me not just how to race, but how to carry myself with pride, how to stand tall in the face of adversity, and how to earn respect — not demand it.

This wall behind me tells the world about your accomplishments. But what it can’t fully capture is the personal legacy you left behind — in me, in our family, and in every fan whose life you touched. You pushed people to be better, whether they realized it or not.

There isn’t a day that goes by where I don’t think about what you’d say — whether I’m in the booth, in the garage, or just being a dad myself. I hear your voice in moments of doubt, and I feel your pride in moments of triumph.

Nashville has become a special place for NASCAR. It’s a place of celebration, music, and memories. And I’m proud to see your memory honored here. You always had a way of bringing people together — even now, all these years later.

I miss you more than I can say. But I’m grateful every day to be your son, and to carry forward your name, your values, and your passion for this sport we both love.

Love always,
D
