In a touching blend of family rivalry and rising talent, 12-year-old Keelan Harvick stole the spotlight by besting his father, NASCAR icon Kevin Harvick, in a thrilling Legends Car showdown at Florence Motor Speedway. The young racer, who’s rapidly making a name for himself in the motorsport world, left no doubt about his competitive edge. “I lapped him in two laps,” Keelan quipped with a smile during a post-race interview with FloRacing—clearly enjoying the moment of triumph over his veteran dad.

Keelan’s win wasn’t just a lucky break; it’s part of a breakout 2024 season that includes 27 victories in 49 starts. His dedication and skill earned him the INEX Young Lions Asphalt National Championship, cementing his reputation as a rising star in the sport. His ability to blend youthful enthusiasm with serious racing talent is drawing attention across the racing community.

The story doesn’t end in Florence. This Saturday, the father-son duo will bring their competition to a new level at the CARS Tour West Pro Late Model race at Kern Raceway in Bakersfield, California. For the first time, they’ll go wheel-to-wheel in full-bodied stock cars—marking a significant milestone in both their racing journeys.
