Lions officially re-sign reserve offensive lineman

  1. The Detroit Lions have officially re-signed veteran offensive lineman Kayode Awosika, securing their interior line depth as they prepare for the 2025 NFL season. Awosika, originally joining the Lions from the Philadelphia Eagles in 2022, has played in 28 games over the past two seasons, primarily serving as a backup guard. He notably contributed in the NFC Championship game during the 2023 season and has been a reliable presence in various roles along the offensive line

Awosika’s re-signing is part of the Lions’ broader strategy to maintain continuity and depth on their offensive line. With starting right guard Kevin Zeitler becoming a free agent, the team faces competition for starting guard positions from players like Netane Muti, Michael Niese, and Kingsley Eguakun. Additionally, the Lions are evaluating potential draft prospects such as Tyler Booker, Grey Zabel, and Donovan Jackson, who offer versatility and strength to bolster the offensive line for the future

Awosika’s experience and adaptability make him a valuable asset as the Lions look to solidify their offensive line heading into the 2025 season. His familiarity with the team’s system and his ability to contribute in multiple positions provide the Lions with flexibility and depth, ensuring they are well-prepared for the challenges of the upcoming season.
