Tensions are heating up as Ryan Preece sends a clear warning shot to William Byron ahead of the upcoming NASCAR Clash. Known for his aggressive driving style and no-nonsense attitude, Preece isn’t backing down this season. After a turbulent 2024 campaign filled with near misses and frustrating finishes, the Stewart-Haas Racing driver appears determined to start 2025 on a bold note — and Byron seems to be in his crosshairs.
“Let’s just say I haven’t forgotten how things went down last season,” Preece said in a post-practice interview. “If he wants to race hard, I’ll race harder. Simple as that.”
While Preece didn’t elaborate on a specific incident, it’s widely believed he’s referencing a controversial late-race move at Martinsville, where Byron edged him out in a tight battle for position. The two have shared an increasingly competitive on-track rivalry, and with the Clash offering no championship points but plenty of pride, both drivers are expected to go all-out.
Byron, coming off a career-best season with multiple wins, shrugged off the comment but acknowledged the rising tension. “Everyone’s fired up for the Clash,” he said. “I just race my race. If he’s got a problem, I guess we’ll handle it on the track.”
Fans can expect fireworks when the green flag drops. With Preece hungry to make a statement and Byron aiming to maintain his elite status, the NASCAR Clash could be the first chapter in one of 2025’s most compelling rivalries.
