Kyle Larson made headlines with his bold attempt to complete motorsports’ legendary “Double”—racing both the Indianapolis 500 and the Coca‑Cola 600 on the same day. However, after consecutive crashes derailed both legs of his second try, Larson candidly admitted he’s no longer aiming to repeat the feat .
At Indy, Larson spun out on lap 91 following a restart that he described as being “a little too eager” . Despite qualifying on the front row and leading 34 laps, he couldn’t recover—stalling during a pit stop and ultimately crashing under green-flag conditions . Though uninjured, the drive ended prematurely.
Undeterred, Larson then rushed via helicopter to Charlotte, only to run into trouble again. Leading early, he hit the wall on lap 38, and later got caught in a multi-car wreck on lap 245—resulting in another DNF and a 37th‑place finish .
Reflecting afterward, Larson emphasized the sheer difficulty of the endeavor: “The window of time is too tight…The Double is just a tough undertaking,” and concluded it isn’t “worth it” to attempt again . Despite that, he left the door open to returning to Indy, focusing on one major event at a time—rather than pushing the logistical and physical limits of running both in a single day .
