This morning, CBS Sports reported that NASCAR has officially suspended driver Bubba Wallace for two weeks and fined him $250,000 for his involvement in a race manipulation incident during the recent Cup Series race at Martinsville Speedway.

NASCAR’s investigation revealed that Wallace, along with drivers Ross Chastain and Austin Dillon, engaged in coordinated actions to manipulate the race outcome in favor of their respective manufacturers. Specifically, Wallace’s team instructed him to reduce his pace significantly in the final laps, allowing fellow Toyota driver Christopher Bell to pass him and secure a spot in the Championship 4. This maneuver violated NASCAR’s member conduct policies, specifically sections 4.4.B and 4.4.D, which address actions detrimental to stock car racing and race manipulation.

In addition to the suspension and fine, Wallace’s team, 23XI Racing, has been penalized with a 50-point deduction in the driver standings. The team’s executive, crew chief, and spotter have also been suspended for the next championship points event. These penalties reflect NASCAR’s commitment to maintaining the integrity of the sport and ensuring that all competitors adhere to its standards.

Wallace has expressed regret for his actions and acknowledged the impact of his behavior on the sport and its fans. NASCAR officials have emphasized that such conduct undermines the principles of fair competition and will not be tolerated. The penalties serve as a clear message to all participants about the importance of upholding the sport’s integrity.
