Alright team, who’s ready for some early morning excitement? NASCAR returns to the streets of Chicago this weekend, and Kiwi superstar Shane van Gisbergen (SVG) is back for another big weekend! After making history by winning the inaugural Chicago Cup race in 2023, Shane is once again taking on double duties in both the NASCAR Cup and Xfinity Series.
In the Cup Series, Shane will pilot the #88 WeatherTech Trackhouse Camaro for Round 19 of the 2025 season. Although currently 32nd in the standings, he’s already locked into the Playoffs thanks to his incredible win in Mexico recently. Meanwhile, in the Xfinity Series, Shane will make his season debut with JR Motorsports, driving the #9 Red Bull WeatherTech Camaro.
SVG has truly made a mark on the Chicago street circuit, holding lap records and the unique distinction of winning in both Cup and Xfinity races on this challenging 3.44km track. Last year, he showed his speed and tenacity by battling Kyle Larson for the Xfinity win, overcoming setbacks to take a thrilling victory.
Joining Shane will be fellow Aussies Will Brown and Jack Perkins, both making their own NASCAR debuts. Will, the reigning Supercars Champion, drives the #13 Camaro in Cup, while veteran Jack Perkins takes on the Xfinity Series in the #19 Toyota Camry.
