Shane van Gisbergen Shines Again on the Streets of Chicago!
Shane van Gisbergen has pulled off another incredible performance, claiming victory in the NASCAR Xfinity Series race on the streets of Chicago. In what was his first Xfinity start of the season, SVG overcame a string of challenges—including a strategy mishap, engine gremlins, and a Cool Suit failure—to secure a hard-fought and thrilling win.
Starting from pole, Shane led comfortably early and chose to extend his stint for a late-race advantage with fresher tyres. But a poorly timed caution while he was leading caused a setback, dropping him down to 19th after a delayed pit stop. Unfazed, the Kiwi maestro charged back through the field with trademark precision and determination.
By the time the final caution flew with less than five laps to go, SVG had fought his way to second behind Red Bull teammate Connor Zilisch. The restart set the stage for an epic two-lap duel. Holding the outside into the final corner before Turn 1, Shane managed to get the inside line, diving deep under brakes and muscling past Zilisch for the lead.
From there, it was classic van Gisbergen—cool under pressure, flawless execution. He held off a late surge from Zilisch to take his second straight Xfinity win on the Chicago streets and show why he remains one of the most adaptable and fearless drivers in the world.
Next up: the NASCAR Cup Series race, where he starts from pole. Let’s go, Shane!
