#Titans 2nd-round EDGE Femi Oladejo is the only rookie on the team who hasn’t signed his contract yet — and that’s completely normal. There’s no cause for concern. Historically, 2nd-round picks are usually the last to finalize their rookie deals. The delay typically centers around guaranteed money, which is increasing year-over-year, especially with the rising salary cap.

There’s no cause for concern. Historically, 2nd-round picks are usually the last to finalize their rookie deals. The delay typically centers around guaranteed money, which is increasing year-over-year, especially with the rising salary cap.

Unlike 1st-rounders — who have had fully guaranteed rookie contracts for years — 2nd-rounders receive only a portion of their contracts guaranteed. The percentage usually decreases with each pick: for example, the 33rd pick might get 95% guaranteed, 34th gets 92%, 35th gets 89%, and so on. These aren’t exact numbers but help illustrate the sliding scale approach.

In this year’s draft class, only two 2nd-round picks have signed so far:

• #33 Carson Schwesinger (Browns)
• #34 Jayden Higgins (Texans)

Both received fully guaranteed deals — a major shift from last year, when no 2nd-rounders had full guarantees. Now, agents for the rest of the 2nd round are pushing for similar terms, which has slowed the process league-wide.

So Oladejo’s situation isn’t unique. It’s more about market setting than anything specific to the Titans or the player. Once pick #35 signs and that benchmark is set, we’ll likely see a flurry of signings.

Expect Oladejo to sign before training camp — no drama, just business.
